The Section 8 waiting list for the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (Housing Authority) will close on December 1, 2009.  If you have not placed your name on the Housing Authority’s Section 8 waiting list and you wish to do so, please register online by clicking here.  Interested persons may also call (562) 347-4663 or (800) 731-4663; however, the Housing Authority expects an extremely high call volume, so it is recommended that you apply via the website.

For those whose name is already on the list, there is no need to take any action.  The Housing Authority will maintain applicant’s name, date, and time of registrations on the waiting list.  Those on the waiting list may still update their personal information by visiting www.hacola.org.

The waiting list will reopen in the future and a public notice will be issued at that time.

HACoLA OVERVIEW

The Community Development Commission of the County of Los Angeles serves as the County’s Housing Authority, administering both the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing programs.  The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program currently assists approximately 21,000 families through a partnership with over 10,000 property owners.  The Public Housing program manages 2,961 units throughout Los Angeles County.

CDC ArtPublic Housing refers to specific developments that are owned and/or operated by the Housing Authority which leases units directly to families.  Because Public Housing assistance is tied to the property, families must live on Public Housing property. (more...)

CDC Art 2The Section 8 program offers tenant-based assistance.  Participants find their own housing to rent and pay a portion of their income towards rent.  The Housing Authority subsidizes the balance of the monthly rent in direct payments to the owner. (more...)
